HOPE STREET - NORTHERN SECTION

Internal detail of stained glass windows in Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

With a fascinating cathedral at each end, Hope Street is where the city of Liverpool really punches above its weight.  There is so much to see that the walking tour of Hope Street is split into a northern and southern section.

In the northern section we look at philanthropic attempts to tackle the city's Victorian poverty, at the history of an amazing theatre, and we walk out of Hope Street to look at Alfred Waterhouse's 'red brick' University Building, as well as some of the university's public sculpture.

Walking distance is about one mile, on level ground.

Tour lasts 1.25 hours (75 minutes) approx.

Meet outside LIPA, at the junction of Hope Street and Mount Street.
